| Why satellite imagery? |
| The advantage of using satellite imagery over other forms of imagery is the ability of satellites to continuously and legally monitor activities anywhere in the world. The satellite can image everywhere, without political or operational limitations. It is possible today to acquire high-resolution satellite data over a specific, extensive area, ensuring economical and completely confidential access to critical information. They allow the analysis of land use over large areas - thousands of hectares or more in a single image. Satellite imaging provides repetitive coverage over same area, thus facilitating easier temporal analysis. Satellite imagery has predictable distortions unlike aerial photography where each image has to be processed differently. |

| Quickbird |
| Quickbird is the highest resolution, multispectral commercial earth imaging satellite, in the world. It has a resolution of 61cm (at nadir), meaning a highly detailed natural color image unprecedented in satellite imaging history. It is an ideal product for the large scale mapping (optimum mapping scale is 1:1500), be it cadastral, city planning, base mapping. |

| Worldview-1 |
 |
Worldview-1 launched on Oct 19, 2007, provides highest resolution panchromatic imagery at 50cm GSD. Worldview-1 image has high accuracy (6.5 m CE90% ).
Frequent revisit time of Worldview-1 is increasing image collection opportunities, enhancing change detection applications and enabling accurate map updates. |

| Ikonos |
| IKONOS was the first satellite to collect high-resolution imagery at 1- and 4-meter resolution. It offers multispectral and panchromatic imagery. Till date, IKONOS, derived from the Greek word for "image," has collected more than 275 million square kilometers of imagery that is readily available in the digital archive. Ikonos is an ideal product if you require highly detailed mapping and feature extraction. |

| TerraSAR-X |
 |
Despite wide array of optical satellites currently imaging the earth, there are still some areas in the world where optical imaging gets limited due to persistent bad weather conditions. Radar imaging by virtue of its ability to penetrate cloud and haze allows data collection in such areas. TerraSAR-X, the highest resolution X band SAR (synthetic aperture radar) sensor in the world, is poised to become the primary source of remote sensing data in these areas. TerraSAR-X offers multi-resolution (1m to 16m) and multi-polarization (HH, VV, VH, and HV) imaging services. |
|
Besides its atmospheric penetration capabilities, TerraSAR-X can detect and quantify movements on the earth surface (such as ground subsidence, ship monitoring). The broad spectrum of TerraSAR-X applications include: Hydrology, Geology, Climatology, Image Intelligence, Oceanography, Environmental and Disaster Monitoring as well as Cartography.
Satpalda is the sole distribution partner for TerraSAR-X services in India and neighboring countries. |
